At Journey Church, our doors are wide open to people from all backgrounds, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey.
We are a life-giving, multicultural church and our goal is to infuse life and God's love into people and families through engaging, powerful worship services that offer biblical truth in relevant and practical ways. Together, we're striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible, where there's relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. In short, we'd like to have the kind of contagious Christianity that can influence and encourage the entire community, one life at a time.

We exist to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through intentional relationships, serving our community, mentoring believers, and sending disciple makers so that they can multiply and begin again
We think church should be different!
We think that everyone should feel welcomed - Church is a place for all regardless of what you wear or what you have done in your past. Everyone is welcomed to start the journey right from where they are and continue to live a purposeful life in Christ.
We think that we should be passionate about making this world a better place - We think that rather than trying to be the best church in the community, we should be the best church for the community. We love people, know culture and seek to see lives transformed for Jesus Christ. We believe that a relationship with Jesus will move you to help others see God's love for them through acts of love.
Journey Community Church is committed to leading you to God's best for your life - A life that is meant to be lived in joy and peace. As a church of the community, we are located on the corner of 22nd Street and Broadway offering our friends and neighbors prayer, groceries and doing acts of kindness so that they may experience the full gospel of Jesus Christ.

At our Journey Counseling Center you can meet with a Licensed Clinician who will help you on your journey to joy!

VICTOR & GISELLE LLERENA
Lead Pastors
Victor Llerena, M.A.T.S., LCSW
Victor was president of the board in his former church Disciples of Christ of Jersey City. As president, he shared ministerial responsibilities with his Sr. Pastor. After marrying Giselle, he relocated to Queens and joined the pastoral staff in Elohim Christian Church for two years. At Elohim he served the congregation in the following pastoral duties as a preacher, teacher, and counselor to those struggling with mental, emotional, and spiritual unrest.
He has worked in the field of social services for the past eleven years in Hudson and Union counties. Victor has experience with substance abuse counseling, homeless outreach, case management, hospital discharge planning, and HIV prevention and education. Victor has worked in the field of higher education as an adjunct professor.
Victor obtained his BA in Sociology from Saint Peter's College and his Master of Social Work from Rutgers University and a Masters of Arts in Theological Studies from Liberty University. He is licensed as a clinical social worker in the states of New Jersey and New York.
As a licensed clinician, he has opened his private practice. At the Journey Counseling Center he meets with children, individuals, couples and families. It is here where he helps people start their journey to joy. His passion is to serve and give back to the people of the community with his all of his GOD given skills and knowledge.
Rev. Giselle Llerena, BTH, MS, M.Div.
From an early age Giselle has dedicated her life to the Lord and ministry. As a child she held the highest position within her organization as the children’s leader of the Latin American Council. It was here where she was formed to be the leaders she is today. This position allowed her as a child to learn how to preach and minister to children within the city of New York.
Later, as young adult she served the Spanish Eastern District of the AG in various prestigious positions. As District Youth Director she travelled throughout the eastern board preaching the gospel to thousands of young people. These years helped her grow in spiritual maturity. Her professional experience as a Director of Admissions for several colleges led her to be nominated as President of the School of Theology of the AG for two years.
Giselle is passionate about teaching and preaching the gospel. Her message is one of healing and reconciliation to all who need to hear the gospel. As an ordained minister, Giselle served her local church as an Associate Pastor for four years. It was during this time that God called her to become a church planter. God lead Victor and Giselle to Bayonne, NJ where they have opened a church plant.
In November of 2013 she was appointed by the US Mission Executive Committee as a US Missionary Associate for the Assemblies of God. She has obtained a BA in Theology and MS in Organizational Leadership from Nyack College and a M.Div. from Liberty University.

All of our adult worship services are creative, exciting and full of life. These media infused worship experiences are guaranteed to engage you not only visually, but spiritually as well. You will find that through our contemporary worship and dynamic messages there is real life change happening here at Journey Church.
Our services usually last around 1 hour and 30 minutes; however when God speaks and decides to move we listen and move with him. We encourage you to come and experience Journey for yourself.
If you find yourself arriving a little early, you can always stop by for some free coffee and maybe a pastry, all in a comfortable atmosphere where you can meet our lead pastors.
